Nestlé with headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestlé and is today the world's biggest food and beverage company. Sales at the end of 2007 were CHF 107.5 bn, with a net profit of CHF 10 bn. We employ around 276,000 people and have 480 factories or operations in almost every country in the world.

History

In the 1860s, Henri Nestlé, a Swiss pharmacist, developed a substitute of mothers’ milk for babies who were unable to be breast-fed. People quickly recognized the value of the new product after his new formula saved many children’s lives and the company –Nestlé– was established in 1867.

To sustain the technologies and make Nestlé products even better, Nestlé continues investing 37 billion NT dollars a year on researches and developments for innovations and renovations. More than 3,500 scientists in 20 worldwide R&D centers work day and night together and every dollar spent is aimed to create new technologies beneficial to human being, improve operation processes to make better quality products, and refine existing formulas and recipes to make our products more tasty and healthier. Nestlé Taiwan Ltd, established in 1983, is the largest foreign food company in Taiwan. The products sold and marketed by Nestlé Taiwan include infant formula, baby cereal, growing up milk powder, adult milk powder, coffee, beverage, culinary products, confectionery, healthcare products, pet food, etc. The brands include NAN, NESLAC, KLIM, NESPRAY, NESCAFE, MILO, MAGGI, FRUTIPS, KIT KAT, NUTREN, PURINA and so forth, in which most of the brands have been playing a major role in serving people on a daily basis.
